Municipal Committee

The Berkeley Heights Democratic Municipal Committee consists of 2 committee members (1 male, 1 female) from each of the 11 voting districts in Berkeley Heights. Our Chairman is Howard Geminder.

The 2011-13 Democratic Municipal Committee members are as follows:

District 1 – Howard and Elizabeth Geminder (Chairman and Treasurer). This district is the area around Woodruff Elementary School, which is where you vote.

District 2- Bruce and Meara Nigro.  This district contains much of the oldest part of Berkeley Heights, including our downtown and all streets north of the railroad station. Your voting place is Town Hall (29 Park Avenue)

District 3 – Vacant – contact stephen@bhdems.com to be appointed! This district is composed of all streets on the left side of Park Avenue as you drive to Town Hall and the train station. Your voting place is Town Hall.

District 4 – Joseph A. Graziano  (Vice-Chair) and Janet L. Graziano. This district contains all  streets between Mountain Park Elementary School, Columbia Middle School and the Library. Your voting place is Columbia Middle School (345 Plainfield Avenue)

District 5 – Thomas A. Battaglia and  Jamie Divine-Cadavid. This district contains Free Acres, the famous cultural community within Berkeley Heights, as well as most streets off of Emerson Lane. Your voting place is Mary Kay McMillan Preschool (off Mountain Avenue).

District 6 – Anthony DePaola; female position vacant – contact stephen@bhdems.com to serve! This district includes Spring Ridge Drive , Hamilton Avenue and the “Presidential streets” like Harding, Coolidge and Wilson. Your voting place is the Berkeley Heights Firehouse.

District 7 – Burton and Arlene Zitomer. This district includes streets such as Timber Drive, and is directly adjacent to New Providence. Your voting place is the Berkeley Heights Rescue Squad building.

District 8- Will  and Mary Leland. This district includes a large swathe of houses on the right side of Mountain Avenue as you drive towards Governor Livingston High School. All houses between Snyder Avenue and Diamond Hill Road are in this district. Your voting place is Runnels Hospital.

District 9 – Daniel and Karen Bernier. This district is primarily composed of Murray Hill, but also includes the “Deserted Village”. Your voting location is Governor Livingston High School, at the top of Murray Hill.

District 10 – Stephen Yellin (Secretary) and Maritza Brackman. This district covers houses in a triangle between Mountain Park, Emerson Lane and Cedar Green Avenue. Dogwood Lane, Lenape Lane, Lorraine Drive, Sherbrook Avenue and all houses around Mountain Park are in this district. Your voting place is Mountain Park Elementary School.

District 11- Denis and Melba Hernandez-Smalley. This district consists of houses on the left side of Plainfield Avenue as you are driving towards Bonnie Burn Road, and houses on the right of Mountain Avenue as you are driving towards Runnels Hospital. Your voting place is Mary Kay McMillan Preschool.
